Within two years, 1963–65, he became its Assistant Editor, then left to join the rival \u003ci\u003eMotor Sport\u003c\/i\u003e monthly and \u003ci\u003eMotoring News\u003c\/i\u003e weekly.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin-bottom: 6.0pt;\"\u003e\u003cspan style=\"font-size: 14.0pt; font-family: 'Calibri',sans-serif;\"\u003eWith them in 1968 he worked alongside the legendary Denis ‘Jenks’ Jenkinson and William ‘Bill’ Boddy; absorbing their shared sense of investigating racing history through painstaking research. That August he went freelance for \u003ci\u003eAutosport\u003c\/i\u003e and other racing periodicals worldwide. He has been an historical consultant for the National Motor Museum at Beaulieu, the Brooklands Museum, The Silverstone Museum, The Revs Institute in Florida, USA, and for Bonhams Auctioneers.
