AN INDEPENDENT REVIEWER'S FAVOURITE EVRO BOOKS
Over the past decade or so, John Aston of Speedreaders has reviewed over a hundred motorsport books and offered a considered and erudite critique of the material he has read. In a recent post on Autosport’s Nostalgia Forum, John presented his ‘Top Ten’, basing his judgements on, in his words, “the books I’ve most enjoyed reading”. We are thrilled that four Evro titles make his list. They are named below, with John’s pithy summaries:
• Texas Legend: Jim Hall and his Chaparrals by George Levy. “I thought I knew a far bit about Jim Hall. This book proved I’d barely scratched the surface.”
• Dragster Genesis by Barry John. “A joyous book. Looks fantastic, reads superbly and few corners of drag racing’s history are left unexplored.”
• Driven to Crime by Crispian Besley. “Superbly researched, shocking, funny and absurd. Crooks in motor sport — who’d have thought it?”
• My Travels on Racer Road by Pete Lyons. “Who wouldn’t have wanted a life like this one?”
